FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
|
When Marty's Shoes began receiving a much larger number of
orders from their e-commerce sites than anticipated, they realized that receiving ordering information in
e-mail messages was no longer a good solution. After reviewing the sites "back end"
and the shipping methods, several answers were immediately implemented to
assist eshoesale.com with their on-line orders from their Yahoo site as well as their
AT&T SecureBuy site.
A database was developed and data import procedures were put in place
to receive the orders from their Yahoo stores. Additionally, receipts and
letters were developed that automatically merged the data; thereby, drastically
reducing the amount of typing that the staff had to do.
Additionally, an SQL database was developed to import scanned inventory items. The database
matches the scanned UPC codes to an in-house database then displays detailed information about
the style, division, store location, etc. of the inventory.
